“He ran a chainsaw clearing debris and helping people get back into their homes during the hottest days after the tornadoes in Alabama… Some people play a hero, Paul was a hero. Paul was an honorable, hardworking, dedicated, respectful man with a humble spirit who shared his blessings with those who needed it most. It was an honor and a privilege to be able to work with, learn and look up to someone who walked the walk”, said JD Dorfman from REACH OUT Worldwide after Walker’s death.

New York News in Haitian Creole: Superstorm Sandy on NYC and New Jersey

Madi, 30 oktòb 2012, Nouyòk, Etazini: Bilan Siklòn Sandi nan Nouyòk, Noujèze, Statten Island, Hoboken, Breezy Point elatriye - (Sandy’s Toll on New York, New Jersey and Other Areas etc.)

Sandi kite dlo toupatou. Gen inondasyon tout kote ou pase. Nou ka jwenn machine sou do kay. Lanm lanmè anvayi kay moun. Machin ap flote nan dlo lanmè sitou nan Manhattan. Tren estasyon yo anba dlo. Nou ka jwenn dlo toupatou Nouyòk. Sandi koze lamò plis 90 moun. Dlo koze inonde anpil garaj taksi. Machin taksi jon yo rete nan mitan dlo larivyè k-ap koule nan lari. Nouyòk ak Noujèze tounen tankou yon kote ki t-ap fè lagè. Se yon gwo katastwòf natirèl.

Si tèlman gen dlo toupatou, moun koke laka yo. Konsa, amplwaye FEMA pral itilize tout resous gouvènman federal yo pou pote sekou. Prezidan Obama gentan deklare tout zòn ki inonde yo zòn ki sipoze resevwa èd an ijans. Madi tout jounen, travayè konpayi elektrik yo t-ap fann toupatou pou yo eseye repare kouran elektrik. Nou tande bri si ki t-ap koupe bwa ki tonbe sou kay ak nan lari. Majistra Bloomberg di ke vil Nouyòk pa-t bati pou sipòte kantite dega dlo ka koze. Kounye-a, otorite yo ap enveztige enfrastrikti ki anba tè oswa anba anpil beton. Moun sipoze foubi tout bildin ki anba dlo yo pou retire sèl lanm lanmè yo depose sou yo. Si yo pa fè sa byen, pral gen dega pi devan. Sèl kowode nenpòt estrikti.

Papa ak manman pitit mete de men nan tèt. Biznis yo anba dlo. Gen sab toupatou. Menm waf yo kraze. Dlo bwote kay al depoze byen lwen fondasyon yo. Gen mèt kay k-ap tounen pou konstate sab ki pran fondasyon kay yo. Yo p-ap wè menm yo ti poto kay yo. Sandi se yon tanpèt ki anraje. Tout moun pral sibi konsekans Sandi. Depi moun k-ap travay sou Wall Street jouk moun k-ap travay lakay moun Nouyòk, pral gen konsekans ekonomik. Gen anpil moun ki pral pèdi travay yo. Pral gen anpil djòb tou nèf tou. Pral gen travay nan konstriksyon. Yo detwi oswa yo anba dlo.

Avyon pa-t ka ateri oswa dekole. Anpil avyon rete nan eta oswa peyi kote yo te ye yo. Touris ak vwayajè yo te kole nan ayewopò /èpòt yo. Ayewopò La Guardia ouvri pòt yo ankò avèk limit nan sèvis yo ka rann.

Yè, Gouvènè Noujèze a, Chris Christie ki se yon Repibliken, fè louwanj pou Prezidan Obama. Li di ke prezidan an te sou telefòn avèk li a minwi. Li mande-l pou-l deklare Noujèze yon majè zòn dega. A dezèdimaten, Gouvènè Christie anonse ke FEMA anplwaye poze-l kèk kesyon. Aprèsa, Noujèze te deklare yon zòn dega. Konsa li di Prezidan te fè yon travay. “Barak Obama vin bon zanmi li.” Li di Prezidan kolabore ak li. “Prezidan an te yon moun. Li merite kredi pou jan li fè travay li.”

Gouvènè a anonse ke kesyon politik pa enterese-l nan yon sitiyasyon konsa. “Nou panse m-ap bay tèt mwen pwoblèm sou zafè politik? Sa pa konsène-m. M gen yon travay pou-m fè nan Noujèze. M gen pi gwo pwason pou-m fri.”

Christie se sipriz oktòb la. Mitt Romney ak Ryan pa-t atann yon siklòn tankou Sandi. Chris Christie pran randevou ak Prezidan Barack Obama pou yo vizite Noujèze ansanm Mèkredi, 31 Oktòb 2012. Sandi foure kò-l nan politik Ozetazini. “Prezidan Obama merite kredi. L-ap fè yon bon travay. Li rele-m a minwi yèswa,” Gouvènè a anonse sou televizyon ak radyo.

San travay, moun ki te konn voye lajan bay fanmi yo nan peyi etranje pa-p ka fè sa pandan yon bon bout tan. Yo rele lajan k-al nan peyi etranje ‘remittances’ bò isit.

A rich country that is poor. Oh poor Haiti that was left naked by colonial greed! Oh rich Haiti that never stops surprising the world! Oh Haiti, a land of many mysteries and spirits, a land whose gold and riches never served her children, thus conditioned to receiving alms from the world! Oh Haiti, from your entrails, you are ready to spit out and expose your hidden treasures to your sons and daughters once more! May this time bring a total change of attitude and treatment of the men and women whose ancestors braved and defeated the shackles of slavery, discrimination, and abject poverty!

Let the gold rush begin! Haiti has gold! Haiti has iridium! Haiti has precious metals! These are the choruses sung by the international choir and headlined by the top newspapers and magazines of the world! Christopher Columbus (Colombo) and his Spanish cohorts subjugated the native Arawaks and Tainos to forced labor in the extraction of gold and other precious metals. The indigenous inhabitants of Haiti or Bohio were consequently decimated by hard labor, rapes, and diseases! By the end of 1500s, the news about Mexico's gold mines were more sensationalistic. The Spaniards packed up and left for Mexico. They did not have the time or the equipment to turn your innards to make you cough up your last treasures. Mother Haiti, you wanted to reward future generations who would watch over you despite all the drama and sufferings your land has gone through.

Hairless (treeless), your tall mountains kept deep secrets of beauty that men and women from all over the world covet. Far too many centuries, you have been made fun of because of your apparent poverty. Far too many years have found you begging the international community in order to feed your children forced to pile up in the capital, rested on major fault lines. The fatal quake only took 5 seconds to change things. Tectonic plates were moving and exposing your true and precious beauty!

May a new dawn arise for the men and women whose cries of hunger, famine, and fights for justice and dignity are heard from the plains of Artibonite, the valleys and coastal ranges to the peaks of the northern mountains whence Henri Christophe, Jean Jacques Dessalines, Francois, Biassou climbed down. These mountains that sheltered the runaways fed not only the remaining indigenous inhabitants of the island but also the new black gold from Africa. European powerhouses were going to carve Hispanola. French would fight Spaniards who would fight English colonists. The majority of black slaves and the minority of Affranchis (mostly sons and daughters of European planters/slaveholders with slave women) were watching. They would soon realize that it was in their interest to unite and go against the small groups of plantation owners, bankers, and business people who were keeping them separated based on privileges, skin color, and social positions.

Oh Haiti, how long did it have to take you before bringing some level of joy to the faces of Haitians stricken by a series of hurricanes, floods, and quake? Oh Mother Haiti, how long will it take for your sons and daughters to break the cycle of poverty and indifference?

How long will it take for your children spread all over the world to get back to your bosoms? How long will it take for them to want to stay home, work hard to see the fruits of their hard labor and take care of your grandchildren?

May the prophecies come true! On wings of eagles (malfini), they will be brought back to participate in the development of your once fertile land! With the expertise and knowledge acquired in the best centers of higher learning, they will be back to watch the mining of your resources. They will be proud of being your sons and daughters. In harmony, they will watch and prevent the exploitation of these rare resources.

Once again, you will stand up with your head held high. Suffering has given you enough wisdom. Compassionate, you will treat others with respect and dignity because you know what it was like to be the butt of jokes for far too long.

Once again, Haiti, you will reclaim your name, the Pearl of the Antilles (La Perle des Antilles). On your own terms, you will invite and welcome the rest of the world onto your shores. You will accept cooperation that is not masked by abuse and servile exploitation. You will open your arms to receive experts and workers who will help you rebuild hospitals, schools, and a strong business sector that will benefit all your children.

Haiti, you will pay attention to all these corporations, multinational companies that will come running to sniff around your skirts. Once again, you are beautiful and proud! Be careful with their charms that may leave your coffers empty and plunge you in a worse economic situation. Their track records do not say much about their fair business practices. Wherever they have been, they leave behind ecological damages, pain, and regret.

Is this what dreams are made of? Gold in Haiti! Precious metals in Haiti! Haiti has a new raison d'etre!

Brief Review of the Evangelism /Missionary Work / Reach out Story

"The Gengels in Haiti: Go Ye Into The Whole World, Glad Tidings to All" is the story of love, sacrifice, dedication, destruction and redemption. It is also the story of a fortunate young woman who decided to reach out to the less fortunate. Britney Gengel, a Lynn University student, decided to be part of a group of missionaries to Haiti. They arrived 1 day before the Jan.12, 2010 quake that killed more than 300,000 people. Talking to her parents, she wrote, ""They love us so much and everyone is so happy," she wrote. "They love what they have and they work so hard to get nowhere, yet they are all so appreciative. I want to move here and start an orphanage myself." Hotel Montana collapsed on her. Her body was retrieved on Valentine's Day. Broken and saddened by the death of their beloved daughter, the Grengels decided to turn her last wish and dream into reality. Friends, family members and sympathizers have contributed enough funds to start the construction of a state-of-the-art orphanage in Grand-Goave, Haiti. Why this specific site? Find out more about how she responded to the calling and how even in death she is encouraging others while blessing many residents she will never meet.

Tell others about this great opportunity to contribute to Haiti's rebuilding. The Gengels and friends count on your continued support as they embark on this journey to make a difference in the lives of Haitian children whom her late daughter loved so dearly.
